Finally I have some time to make some posts. These are for everyone to take a shot at.
Giants on Earth, and were not talking just big boned. There is evidence that giants lived on Earth at some point. the most bizarre account is from the Sumerians regarding the Anunnaki.
www.ancientx.com/nm/anmviewer.asp
Steve Quayle has some good pictures of modern giants, skeletal remains, and charts from verbal accounts. scroll down on the left to get to the pics. It has been updated since I was there last , and it now includes "skulls". This was going to be another topic altogether. The Starchild skull is in that group (top row 3rd from right). Lloyd Pye is behind the effort to DNA test that skull to prove it's unearthly origin. I will put that post together soon.

And this story which seemed like fiction as I read it. i have since talked to a friend who knew someone from this region who told simuilar stories. You decide.

Re: GIANTS
12/18some of mr quayle's skulls seem similar to the bound skulls of many neolithic peoples the skulls of infants were bound to achieve a certain look that in the culture was seen as atractive we of course find them to be gross the flathead indians are a recent north american example.

Re: GIANTS
01/15Head binding was thought at first, but the overall volume of the cranial cavity cannot be accounted for by known binding technics. This article gives more technical specs on volume. some of these skulls have almost twice as much volume as a modern skull. it could definately be binding taken to the extreme however.

Re: GIANTS
03/09I would still say it's more likely to be head binding. I wonder who did the work in these skulls. There's also the possibility that their hoaxes....been known to happen...

Re: GIANTS
03/09Hahaha. Those GIANTS articles were pretty funny. They came from the tenth planet. Mhm. That wasn't evidence that was just flat out remedial scholarship...that is, if they really believe what they are saying and it's not just a joke.
The ancientx link: this one's so far out there and full of complete fabrications and grossly misunderstanding the fact that it's not even worth talking about.
The SteveQuale link: I love how he show these computer images of skeltons, to compare sizes, then below tell you about where and when these remains were supposedly found. But they don't give you any sources for the suspicious infomation. Just because some ancient culture wrote about giants in the myth and folklore dones't mean it's TRUE. It's well, myth and folklore, nothing more.
The Solomon Giants Link: "who told simuilar stories". Stories. Exactly.
I don't think there's anything to "solve" here, because there's no mystery. -

Re: GIANTS
04/06Greg--I do hope you read a bit more on Nibiru. There is much serious scholarship on the issue, by students of Sitchkin and others, filling in some of the gaps. Some believe that the Nibiru orbit is also implied in the Dendera zodiac, and if proven, that will be concrete evidence for the theory dating back in time ad infinitum. If giants did not exist, as nearly every oral tradition around the world independentally indicates, then where did the idea come from? Hell, even Cortez recorded seeing a giant in the Incan mountains, and that's in the historical record.
It's much easier to dismiss myth and folklore than to investigate it as encoded messeges of truth that we don't understand. The error is not in the story-teller, it is in the listener! The Dogon tribe in Mali had said for years that visitors came from Sirius, and that the star was actually 2 stars, one being "the smallest thing there was" and also "the heaviest thing there was." Scientists scoffed at these poor stupid savages, until discovering that Sirius is a binary system with a a super-dense white dwarf. So I guess those poor stupid savages were just lucky....
And head-binding would not create double cc capacity, plain and simple. One cannot take a container and bind it to create more volume, but only to alter the shape or distribution of the volume. Sheesh, what grade are you in? -

Re: GIANTS
04/30Okay, came back to the tribe to respond.
<<There is much serious scholarship on the issue>>>
I would hardly call the "research" done by Sitchkin and his followers "serious scholarship". It is nothing of the sort.
I have read more on the Nibiru. I still think it's ridiculous. Why? No, it's not because I'm judgemental and close minded. It's because, as my feeling was before, the scholarship is shoddy and second rate. Sitchkin's ideas are absurd and not based on fact, but pure speculation, misinterpreting the facts and relying on completely outdated and unreliable sources. I won't go into all the details here, since many people have already written about Sitchkin's theories and shown where he is in err.
For refutations of Sitchkin, see:

www.ianlawton.com/mesindex.htm
It's fun, even popular, to believe in the loan crusader of a theory...the genius rebel, who's ideas are scoffed by society, etc, etc. It's a romantic idea. But there's usually a reason why someone's theories are rejected by the scientific establishment. And that reason is that the theories are not supportable and fly in the face of known evidence.
<<<It's much easier to dismiss myth and folklore than to investigate it as encoded messeges of truth that we don't understand.>>>
There're many, many people who research mythology in a very scholarly manner and many, many good books on the many subjects. Realizing the distinction between fact and myth, does not mean you are dismissing the importance or significance of the mythology. Also, some fact is incorporated occassionally incorporated into myths (place names and other geography is common), but that doesn't mean the whole story is true.
With your Sirus example. I seriously doubt scientists of today would call people "poor stupid savages". I think the story you report there is a little subjective...and if there was any seeming connection, yes, based on the evidence put forth, I'd say coincidence.
<<<And head-binding would not create double cc capacity, plain and simple.>>>
Who did these measurements? Was this research published in a refereed journal? Which one? When? Even the website above admits that it is estimating the capacities. They could be wrong. Secondly, head binding is done on a living, growing subject. It is absolutely not, as you compare it, like squeezing a container. It IS possible that binding the head of a "growing" human could artificially increase the cranial capacity. (As for your sarcastic question as to what grade I'm in...I hardly think personal attacks are going to further your position.)
From and archaeologist contact who viewed the web sites:
"As for the skulls, they look to me for all the world just like the head-bound skulls common throughout South and central America from 4000 BC through the Conquest. Claims for their large cranial capacity are just that--claims. As far as I know, no one has actually measured. Moreover, the author admits that there is no confirmation of the skulls' age or archaeological context, opening the door for fraudulant claims to be grafted on to legitimate skulls. In the range of human heads, it is a fact that some are larger than others. By choosing only the largest examples of head-binding, the authors make it appear that these are anamolous when in fact the practice was widespread, not just in the Americas, but worldwide. As late as the 19th century, rural Europeans still bound heads."
As for the giants. The fact that many (most?) cultures have some sort of giant myth does not make it true! That's a logical error in reasoning. There are other explanations. One obvious one, that has been shown to be very likely, is that in pre-scientifically literate times, some of the bones of other mammals, such as elephants or rhinos, were mistaken for their human counterparts. These bones were often thought to be from a giant human. Obviously, they were not. Elephants and their fossil relative for example used to be widespread throughout many parts of the world. Someone living in Western Europe, or N. America (for example) 1000 years ago (or even 100) might find the femur of a mammoth or mastodon. This bone would not have looked like ANY known animal in the area, and yet resembles a human femur. Thus the makings of a giant myth. There are documented cases of this, even into the 19th century; when antiquarians started uncovering "giants" in Native American graves.
Interestingly, it has been also shown that the origin of the cyclops myth is in fact from the finding of elephant bones. A person ignorant of natural history (which most people were long ago) might (and apparently DID) mistake the nasal opening of an elephant skull for that of a single eye socket and erroneously concluded it was the skull of a one eyed human-like creature. (See: animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/si...l).
I'll bring up the issue of giants in the Borderlands and Fringe Science tribe...see where it goes....

Re: GIANTS
01/19Thanks for the thread Sinjin. From the research that I have spent many years gathering from many parts of the world, I feel somewhat ok to speculate that there may have been a time in a our own history in which humanity had interactions with beings who seemed "Divine" or "God-Like" and these beings may have in fact "taught" humans many things- the Sumarians have an account of being taught by the God EA about astronomy, mathematics, language, etc.- and almost every culture in the world has some sort of folk-lore indicating the presence of these Divine Beings- from the popular writing of the Christian Bible describing the 'fallen angels' who were giants to many indigenous stories relating similar events with 'Star People', etc. etc.
The proof is in the history. There is still much more to learn and be discovered. Lloyd Pye is, by the way, on my list of friends, in case anyone feels inspired to contact him and his Satrchild research is brillient.

Re: GIANTS
02/09Ok, I cant take it anymore...... The man's name is Zecharia SITCHIN.. I dont know where the K comes from but I see it over and over on Tribe....This is only a small example of why information has been kept secret...a tiny distortion creeps in and after awhile becomes permanent...imagine what would happen after a thousand years of distortions. I think the 'truth' is probably stanger than we could even imagine, but Sitchin's story is so full of holes you could strain your spaghetti through it... Not to say that NOTHING that he says is true...I think he puts esoteric knowledge in with complete absurdities as sort of a net to catch people who will believe anything without the logic or information to back it up, at the same time scaring away people who are SO logical that if one thing is obviously bogus, they'll throw out the baby with the bathwater.Thats my 2 euros(with inflation, thanks to people like Sitchin, who graduated from the London School of economics, 2 cents worth wont get you very far!;) )
